Dean's Advisory Board

The Dean’s Advisory Board plays an integral role in guiding the future of the University of Arkansas Honors College by providing advice and recommendations to the Dean and staff of the Honors College. Its members contribute to the continuous improvement of the lives of the more than 4,000 honors students at the University of Arkansas.

Responsibilities

  1. Attend at least one board meeting each year, unless excused. Note, board meetings are held in person at the Honors College with a virtual option.
  2. Advise the Dean and other staff of the Honors College by providing feedback about Honors College coursework, programming, and strategic plans.

Membership

  1. The Dean’s Advisory Board shall consist of:
    1. Friends of the Honors College who are or who have the potential to be significant financial supporters,
    2. Honors College alumni who have distinguished themselves or show future promise.
    3. A small number of members selected for their academic and administrative expertise.

  1. Membership in the Dean’s Advisory Board is a strictly honorary position and does not convey or imply any ability to conduct business or make statements on behalf of the University of Arkansas or the University of Arkansas Honors College.

Term of Office

  1. There will generally be 12 to 15 members, broken as evenly as possible into three classes serving three-year terms.
  2. Members will serve one term and may be appointed to a second and a third. After completion of the third term, a member must rotate off for at least one year.
  3. Nominations will be sought each year from current and former members of the committee with the selection of new members being at the sole discretion of the Dean.
  4. At the time of the committee’s institution, members will be chosen for staggered terms.
  5. All members serve at the pleasure of the Dean of the Honors College.

Officers

  1. There shall be a chair or a couple who serve as co-chairs for a one-year term.
  2. There shall be a vice chair or a couple who serve as co-vice chairs for a one-year term and who normally succeed as chair(s).
  3. All officers are appointed by the Dean of the Honors College.
