Common Room Shield

Senior Common Room Induction

The Honors College holds its Senior Common Room Induction Ceremony for graduating seniors in the Gearhart Hall Courtyard. Seniors will receive an invitation to their email, and family and friends are invited to celebrate with them.

Senior Common Room Fireplace and Lounge

Senior Common Room

Inspired by UK and Commonwealth traditions, we’ve adopted the common room model. The Honors Lounge serves as your junior common room—a central space for connection. After graduation, you’ll join the senior common room, keeping your bond with the Honors College and fellow scholars strong.

Senior Common Room Arms on the mantle

Senior Common Room Arms

The Honors College Senior Commons Room crest, created by John Treat and designed by Eric Pipkin, features a bold red boar and a wise white serpent on a split shield. Five gold acorns from the university seal top the design, symbolizing independence. The Latin motto, Audax at Sapiens, means “bold but wise.”
